NACE International Names Cynthia O’Malley as Chief Integration Officer

NACE International today announced that Cynthia O’Malley, executive director of the Master Painters Institute LLC (MPI), has been tapped to serve as chief integration officer (CIO) as the association embarks on combining with SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings.

In her new role, O’Malley will provide strategic and operational leadership to support the integration of NACE and SSPC into one new organization.

“Cindy has a long history with both NACE and SSPC and brings a wealth of experience, business savvy, and technical expertise in the field of protective coatings that will benefit the new organization during the transition and for years to come,” says Bob Chalker, CEO of NACE International and the future combined NACE-SSPC organization.

The process of combining NACE and SSPC will involve multiple ad-hoc committees composed of members and staff from both organizations. Each committee has a charter and a defined start and completion date extending over several months.

O’Malley will continue to lead MPI as its executive director while also serving as CIO and working with each of the ad hoc committees to guide and support the integration of staff and programs.

“Cindy came to the NACE organization in the role of executive director in 2018,” says Helena Seelinger, executive director of the NACE International Institute.

“In less than two years, she has transformed MPI into a high-performing organization with value-driven testing programs for the commercial coatings industry, with a strong strategic mindset toward future training and certification programs in that industry,” she adds. “Her mission-driven business acumen, along with her member contributions to both NACE and SSPC, speaks to how Cindy will bring a valuable point of view that makes her ideal to help guide this process.”
