Chief Auditor Named for Contractor Accreditation Program

The NACE International Institute (NII) announced that Dave Evans has been hired as a chief auditor on staff for NII’s Contractor Accreditation Program (NIICAP).

Evans brings decades of experience working in the industrial coatings field, where he specializes in coating recommendations, specification development, failure analysis, facility audits, and training. He is president of Evans Industrial Coating Consultants, LLC, has served as a chief auditor for NIICAP on a consulting basis, and has been a NACE CIP Instructor for 33 years.

“Dave brings outstanding knowledge of the protective coatings and corrosion industry, and in-depth experience and knowledge of quality assurance and control processes in the field of industrial coatings,” says Helena Seelinger, executive director at NII. “He is the ideal candidate for this position, and we are thrilled to have him on the NIICAP team.”

Program Reviews and On-Site Auditing

NIICAP is an industry-driven and industry-managed accreditation program that validates a contractor's quality assurance program, support practices, and production processes. The robust NIICAP process offers a transparent, customer-focused accreditation program that endorses only coating contractors who have demonstrated superior capabilities and competencies necessary to meet owner requirements.

In his staff role chief auditor, Evans will provide technical support for NII’s accreditation program through program reviews and on-site auditing of the operations of coatings contractors that have applied for NIICAP accreditation.  He will support asset owners seeking qualified contractors, all while providing his technical expertise and support to other coating industry programs in NACE International and the Institute.

“As an active member of NACE International and an instructor for many years, it is an honor to take on this role in support of a field and industry I am passionate about,” Evans says. “I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to continue to build the NIICAP program and elevate the quality of coatings contractors worldwide.”

About the NACE International Institute

In 2012, NACE International established an independent organization to manage its world-renowned certification activities. As that organization, NII supports the growth and quality of certification for the corrosion control field, improves the business conditions of the industry, and advances knowledge through certification programs that promote public safety, protect the environment and reduce the economic impact of corrosion.

NII administers 23 certifications on such disciplines as cathodic protection, general corrosion, general coatings, pipeline, specialty certifications and the industry-leading CIP (Coatings Inspector Program) endorsement. Functioning under the management of its own volunteer Board and Board committee within the NACE Institute, it is moving its certification programs toward compliance with ISO standards (ISO 17024).

There are more than 36,000 NACE certification holders today worldwide.
