Vexcon Chemicals Supports the Next Generation of Civil Engineers

For the last ten years, Vexcon has been supporting the prestigious American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Concrete Canoe Competition. Each year, teams of engineering students from colleges and university around the country compete to design a canoe that is made out of concrete materials. Vexcon has supplied Certi-Vex AC1315 Concrete Stain to numerous colleges and university. The schools requested AC1315 Concrete Stain for the Cure and Seal portion of the concrete.

This year, Vexcon supported Youngstown State University canoe design (see pictures), and they finished third overall at the regional conference. Vexcon is proud to support this competition that provides hands-on and practical experience to civil engineering students in the art of concrete. This competition demonstrated to students both AC1315 Concrete Stain’s excellent waterproofing properties and its decorative appeal.

Taylor Simcox, the President of YSU’s ASCE team felt that, “As far as our experience goes with the AC1315 Concrete Stain, we absolutely love using this stain. It is bright and vibrant and works great as a sealer which is very helpful when we put the canoe in the water. It makes cleaning the canoe very easy! Overall, the stain is a high quality product and the company is great.”

Vexcon Chemicals is proud to take part in this national competition that allows our company to educate and inspire the next generation of civil engineers.
