New Foam, Silicone Coating System Passes Severe Hail Tests

Gaco Western announced that its newly developed GacoRoofFoam F2733 spray applied polyurethane foam coated with GacoFlex S2100 Cleanable Solvent-Free Silicone Coating assembly has successfully passed Severe Hail testing by FM Approvals.

Severe Hail Classification

The roof assembly meets performance testing for hail, wind uplift, corrosion, foot traffic, leakage resistance, and accelerated weathering, the company says, adding that it is the only reflective silicone assembly to have been awarded the Severe Hail classification. In addition, according to the manufacturer, this assembly has the highest recycled content in the industry.

Building owners and design professionals are often looking for durable roofing solutions. To that end, Gaco Western says its research and development (R&D) team rose to the challenge by developing a unique system that achieves a durability and toughness rating that eclipses many other offerings in the reflective silicone coating market.

The extreme ability of GacoFlex S2100 to be cleaned adds to the longevity of this system, the company says, as it maintains significantly higher whiteness and solar reflectivity than other silicones.

Importance of FM Approvals Certification

The FM Approvals certification can be valuable to consumers, because it means they can be confident they are getting a tested roof assembly. The Severe Hail classification takes it a step further by reflecting a best-in-class solution with high strength and endurance.

“Gaco is pleased to be a trailblazer in providing our industry an FM Approved assembly that has been proven to withstand the most extreme hail episodes,” says Chuck Skalski, GacoFlex’s vice president of sales. “This is another testament to our commitment to innovation and providing solutions that last for many years.”
