Progressive Materials (PM) is proud to announce that the HS 3200 Series Silicone Roof Coating Pro-Eco Sil has received the NSF Protocol P151 - Health Effects from Rainwater Catchment System Components certification.
A rainwater catchment system is a system that collects rainwater for use as potable water, typically used for washing and drinking. These rainwater catchment systems are most commonly found in warm, tropical areas such as the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and other tropical islands. Because this water will be reintroduced to humans, it is important to ensure that the reused water captured by a catchment system is safe and sanitary.
To ensure the health and safety of those who utilize rainwater catchment systems, NSF created the Rainwater Catchment System Components certification program. This program establishes and validates testing guidelines for products that come in direct contact with rainwater that is used for drinking. The cornerstone guideline of this program is NSF P151, and protocol created by NSF scientists and water quality experts, tests and confirms that rainwater catchment products do not contaminate the water. The water purity must meet thresholds set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) drinking water regulations or advisories. By receiving this certification, PM has confirmed that it's HS 3200 series Pro-Eco Sil silicone roof coatings do not leech contaminants into the water that runs across them.
