The International Roofing Expo (IRE) takes place from Tuesday, Feb. 4 through Thursday, Feb. 6 in Dallas, Texas, representing the preeminent roofing construction and maintenance event where roofing professionals experience face-to-face interaction, product review, education, and networking.
Sponsored by the National Roofing Contractors Association, the event takes place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Representatives of CoatingsPro Magazine will be on hand at booth #109.
The show floor and educational program provide opportunities to discover new trends, advances in technology, and best practices for business growth, according to event organizers.
The event is expected to welcome over 14,000 roofing professionals from industry sectors such as residential and commercial contractors; remodelers; distributors; estimators; specifiers; architects; engineers; builders; and manufacturers. According to event organizers, attendees will be able to explore thousands of products from over 500 brands and select from more than 40 educational sessions.
Trade Show Floor
The IRE’s trade show floor includes more than 152,100 net square feet (14,130.6 m2) of space, with 498 exhibiting companies and 16 hours of exhibit time.
Exhibiting companies will feature products and services spanning 40 categories, including adhesives, built-up roofing, coatings, fasteners, gutters, metal roofing, modified bitumen, roof/decking materials, roof pavers, shingles, skylights, slate, spray polyurethane foam, tile, vapor retarders, ventilation, walkways/ballast, waterproofing, and much more.
Exhibitors include companies such as American WeatherStar, BASF, Carlisle Construction Materials, Castagra Products, Inc., CertainTeed, Firestone Building Products, Icynene-Lapolla, IPS Roofing Products, Kemper System, Marco Industries, R.M. Lucas Co., ICP Building Solutions Group, Metacrylics Roof Coatings, National Coatings Corp., Progressive Materials, LLC, Pro Guard Coatings, Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance, Tropical Roofing Products, and numerous other industry leaders.

Educational Highlights
Meanwhile, IRE also includes a specialized educational conference program, with 44 conference sessions split into eight tracks. These tracks are general business; technical; workplace safety; leadership/management; green building; money matters; sales/service; and legal/HR.
With 66 hours of course selections, attendees will be able to hone skills, learn new strategies, and learn what they can do to ensure success in the future, according to event organizers.
For coatings contractors, one session of interest could be “Coatings in the City/Cool Roofs,” presented by Michelle Carlin, senior product manager at GAF. This session will include examples and success stories of using coatings to achieve energy cost savings, or to extend the life of a roof with minimal labor. This will be presented from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
Another option could be the two-part “Understanding Metal Roofing” session, held from 7:45 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Presented by Rob Haddock, director of Metal Roof Advisory Group, Ltd., topics covered will be the history of metal roofing; metals and metallic coatings; metallurgy; galvanic weathering; and material selection criteria.
The metal roofing session will also feature a discussion on fabrication and manufacturing techniques; various seam types and panel profiles, in addition to underlayments; the use and misuse of sealants; seam technologies; and the principles of thermal cycling and panel anchorage.
