The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) is hosting the world’s largest corrosion and protective coatings event from March 6-10, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. The first event of its kind, the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2022 will combine two world-renowned events: CORROSION by NACE International, and Coatings + by SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings.

AMPP’s new conference will feature everything attendees valued from the legacy events including technical exchange and innovation, networking, and opportunities for collaboration. Attendees can also expect valuable programming throughout AMPP’s technical sessions, standards and administrative meetings, and an exposition featuring hundreds of exhibitors from around the world. AMPP will offer select content virtually on demand following the event.

The Exhibit Hall will be open from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time on Monday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. For those in attendance, stop by the AMPP Media booth (#340) to pick up some free CoatingsPro issues and swag!

Coatings Spotlight

The event, which is being held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, will feature many symposiums and workshops of benefit to coatings professionals.

• Understanding the Proper Use of Coatings Inspection Equipment: Sunday, March 6, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
• Coating Failure Investigations: Monday, March 7, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
• Coating Application: Tuesday, March 8, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Coatings 101: Wednesday, March 9, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
• CoatingsPro’s Contractor Awards Program Presentation: Wednesday, March 9, 12:00–12:30 p.m.
• Thermal & Cold Spray Coatings: Thursday, March 10, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

For those able to join us in San Antonio, the 2022 Contractor Awards Ceremony—headlined by the announcement of our new class of winners—will be held at AMPPiTheater 1 in the Exhibit Hall.

The awards program is designed to showcase and recognize projects and crews that demonstrate excellence in the field of high-performance commercial and industrial coatings. Award winners in seven categories—Commercial Concrete, Commercial Roof, Industrial Concrete, Industrial Steel, Specialty Project, Work It Safe, and Contractor/Crew MVP—will be announced.

Program Highlights

The featured keynote speaker for the AMPP 2022 event is former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray Lahood, who will provide an in-depth analysis of the current state of infrastructure and how the 2021 U.S. Infrastructure and Jobs Act will affect the corrosion and protective coatings sector. Lahood will share insights into how the U.S. government prioritizes infrastructure projects and what industry professionals need to know about existing policies and sustainability initiatives.
