PPG, a leader manufacturer of paints, coatings and specialty materials, today announced that it has appointed Marizeth Carvalho as general manager, Latin America South and global director, powder coatings in its Industrial Coatings business. In this dual role, Carvalho will be responsible for the company's growth strategy in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, and the global powder coatings business.
Carvalho assumed the position on Feb. 1 and will be based in Sumaré, Brazil, PPG’s regional headquarters and the location of its largest manufacturing facility in the region. She assumes regional leadership responsibilities from Marcio Grossmann, who was recently named PPG general manager, Americas, Packaging Coatings.
“PPG has maintained growth in this region over the years, even in the face of challenging conditions. As a manufacturer of paints, coatings and specialty materials for the most diverse markets, including transportation, civil construction, industrial, agricultural implements, and packaging, we expect to continue to grow the value we provide to customers in the region,” Carvalho said.
Carvalho has more than 35 years of experience in the coatings industry. She joined PPG in 2016, as senior manager, Industrial Coatings, and has held positions including director, Industrial Coatings and director, Protective and Marine Coatings in the Latin America South region. Her most recent position was general manager, Americas, Industrial Coatings, based in the U.S. Before joining PPG, she held commercial and sales roles in large multinational companies in the sector.
Carvalho has an undergraduate degree in business administration and MBA degrees in administration and in marketing from FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) and ESPM (Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing).
