The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is proud to announce that it has been honored with a SIIA EXCEL Award for our infographic, Bridge Asset Management. This recognition highlights ASCE’s commitment to sustainably advance the civil engineering profession and protect the health, safety and welfare of all. The EXCEL Awards, presented by the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), are widely recognized as a benchmark for excellence and leadership in the field of media, publishing, marketing, and communication. Each year, the EXCEL Awards celebrate organizations that have demonstrated outstanding editorial and design achievements.
ASCE Publications won the silver in the infographics category. The ASCE Publications infographic program was established to provide practicing civil engineers with guidance on advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Impact Science was instrumental in developing the infographics collection creating an engaging and informative tool for ASCE’s civil engineering members.
“We are excited to receive the SIIA EXCEL award for this infographic,” says Leslie Connelly, Director, of Publications Marketing for ASCE. “Presenting our ASCE Library content in a package that is beneficial to practicing engineers is core to our mission as a society publisher. The entire infographic collection was designed to help our members develop sustainable and resilient infrastructure to advance both United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the address Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding.”
"Creating visual narratives that inform and engage is central to our mission at Impact Science. To have this work acknowledged with the Silver EXCEL Award is incredibly rewarding,” said Nikesh Gosalia, President, Global Academic and Publisher Relations for Impact Science. “Our collaboration with ASCE demonstrates how effectively we can communicate crucial information to diverse audiences. We believe that this infographic will assist in the strategic deployment of the federal infrastructure funding and ultimately contribute to safer, more resilient bridges across the US.”
The bridge infographic highlights ASCE’s 2021 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure and the aging condition of bridges across the United States. The collection of papers along with the infographic focus on bridge maintenance needs and management techniques to assist stakeholders with asset management practices, which have been known to reduce maintenance costs and prevent safety hazards.
