PPG Launches PPG PRIMERON Optimal Powder Primer with Optimized Zinc

PPG launched its innovative PPG PRIMERON™ Optimal zinc epoxy powder primer, setting new standards in corrosion protection and sustainability for the coating industry.

The patent-pending PPG Primeron Optimal primer is formulated with an optimized amount of zinc, offering better transfer efficiency and exceptional corrosion protection that meets rigorous ISO C5 corrosivity specifications. With a transfer efficiency of 85%, this primer requires about half as much product compared to standard zinc-rich primers, resulting in cost savings and enhanced sustainability.

PPG Primeron Optimal primer offers the following benefits:

  • Lower Density: A specific gravity of 2.0 compared to 3.6 in standard zinc-rich primers, making it easier to apply.
  • Enhanced Sustainability: Made without solvents that release VOCs.
  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Exceptional edge, face, and scribe corrosion resistance with improved adhesion on smooth and blasted steel.
  • Efficient Application: Suitable for use on steel, hot-dip galvanized steel, metallized steel, and aluminum for a wide range of applications including trailers, gas tanks, pipes, automotive parts, and machinery.
