Concrete
Service Life Extension Conference | June 29 – July 1, 2015 |
Philadelphia, PA
Disintegrating
and deteriorating concrete is a major issue contributing to North
America’s infrastructure crisis and infrastructure issues worldwide.
Corrosion of concrete affects roadways and bridges, as well as
buildings, dams, pipes and boats.
Experts estimate that 50% of concrete repairs fail within 10 years or
less, a figure that contributes to what has become an $8 billion
concrete repair industry. To address this essential infrastructure need,
NACE International and CoatingsPro Magazine are hosting the Concrete
Service Life Extension Conference. This event includes both practical
and technical tracks to bring together contractors, applicators, and
inspectors with engineers, designers, and scientists. The three days of
sessions will cover the subjects of corrosion prevention and
maintenance in concrete structures, along with case studies involving
concrete coatings application and performance.
The
conference will highlight the most up-to-date technologies and research
for the repair and extension of concrete durability. The event will
begin with a keynote speech on the corrosion of reinforced concrete and
steel framed structures presented by Dr. John P. Broomfield of
Broomfield Consultants.
In conjunction with the conference, NACE International will host a
one-day Concrete Corrosion Workshop on June 29, 2015. The workshop will
include four modules, each addressing a specific aspect of concrete,
from material properties and selection to interactions between concrete
and steel, mechanisms of corrosion, and deterioration testing and
diagnostics.
