FasterBlaster Machine Offers Upgrades over Hand Blasting

RBW Enterprises, Inc. is offering the FasterBlaster machine as the latest innovation within its portable centrifugal shot-blast machine systems segment.

The FasterBlaster machine, used for the surface preparation of storage tanks, pipes, plates, ship hulls, decks, and bridges, is used in many major refineries around the world, according to the company.

How the Machine Works

The system uses centrifugal blast wheels, driven by 30-horsepower electric motors, to throw steel shot against the surface. The steel shot and/or grit is continuously recycled and reused. The unit is operated from a wireless hand-held remote control, eliminating the requirement for man-lifting equipment.

“In comparison to hand blasting, the machine drastically reduces media, labor, waste disposal, and general production costs,” said RBW’s Marketing Manager John Vogel. The unit provides a profile depth of 2.5 to 5 mils (63.5‒127.0 microns) based on the size of the shot or grit used.

Hourly production rates vary from 700 to 1,500 sq. ft. (65.0 to 139.4 m2), depending on the surface condition and cleaning specifications. The system can meet commercial, near white, or white metal blasting standards.

The machine is operated from a wireless hand-held remote control, thus eliminating the requirement for man-lifting equipment.

Additional Savings

Compared with manual blasting practices, the FasterBlaster machine offers significant cost savings in several areas, according to the company. These savings include 90 percent in blast media, 98 percent in waste disposal, 75 percent in man hours, and 98 percent in containment.

The machine is also free of emissions and self-contained, according to the company. It is sold both domestically and internationally.
