CoatingsPro Magazine is recognizing industry excellence in the application of commercial and industrial high-performance coatings with a special CORROSION 2018 ceremony for its second annual Contractor Awards Program. 

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 18, inside the Exhibit Hall’s Orange Theater at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona, where the CORROSION 2018 conference will take place. The ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. local time, and everyone at the conference is encouraged to attend.

CoatingsPro Editor Stephanie Chizik will formally announce the winners and present trophies and plaques to recipients in attendance. For those unable to attend, stay tuned to the CoatingsPro website and social media pages for real-time coverage.

The program is for commercial and industrial coatings contractors, with projects awarded in the categories of commercial concrete, commercial roof, industrial concrete, industrial steel, specialty project, and contractor/crew MVP (most valuable player). The MVP award is for a team or crew member deserving of special recognition for any outstanding accomplishment on the jobsite, such as an exemplary team contribution, safety performance, or communication practices.

By category, award winners include:

·         Commercial Concrete:

1st place: Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing for “Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium”

2nd place: MSC Floors for “Quartz Floors, Walls, and Ceilings”

3rd place: Decorative Concrete of Virginia for “Ballast Point Daleville"

·         Commercial Roof:

1st place: RoofCARE for “Santa Fe Community College Commons Area Renovation”

2nd place: Foam Tight Roofing and Insulation/BN Contracting, LLC for “PSE&G LEED Platinum Certified Green Roof”

3rd place: ACS Commercial Roofing for “Commonwealth Assisted Living at Abingdon

·         Industrial Concrete:

1st place: O.T. Neighoff & Sons, Inc. for “Medstar Health—Washington Hospital Center”

2nd place: Life Deck Coating Installations for “Cutwater Spirits”

3rd place: Surface Technology, Inc. for “Valicor"

·         Industrial Steel:

1st place: Howell & Howell Contractors, Inc. for “Brown-Forman Whisky Bottle Tank”

2nd place: Coatings Unlimited Inc. for “Miami Dolphins Hard Rock Stadium Roof Project”

3rd place: DECO Coatings Inc. for “Water Filtration Tanks" 

·         Specialty Project:

1st place: Wedge Roofing for “Realm Cellars Winery”

2nd place: Capital Painting & Decorating, Inc. for “Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site—White Haven"

·         Contractor/Crew MVP:

Winner: Neysa Nordstrom of Venture Construction Group of Florida

Each nomination was entered by a coatings contractor, and nominated projects for the 2018 awards were completed between November 2016 and November 2017. There is no fee to enter the program. Submissions were rated by the CoatingsPro Editorial Advisory Group, comprised of industry experts.

At Wednesday’s ceremony, Chizik will also announce the launch of the 2019 Contractor Awards program. Information on how to submit nominations for that program, to be awarded at CORROSION 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee, will be available on the CoatingsPro website at www.coatingspromag.com/contractor-awards.
