Expanded Range of High-Capacity Boom Lifts

JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company and leading global manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers, recently announced its expanded range of Hi-Capacity HC3 boom lifts. These lifts can potentially be used by coatings contractors at many jobsites.

The company’s 400S, 460SJ, 600S, 660SJ, and 860SJ HC3 models are available now, while the 450AJ, 600AJ, 800AJ, and 800S HC3 booms are set to roll off production lines in the coming months.

The JLG Hi-Capacity HC3 boom lifts offer an expanded work envelope and three capacity zones for greater reach than models offering one or two capacity zones, according to the company. These models are rated for three occupants with tools in all three zones.

Feedback from Customers

“Customer input, coupled with the increasing popularity of higher-capacity boom lifts, drove the expansion of our HC3 product offering, which now includes 80-ft [24.4 m] platform height models,” said Nate Hoover, JLG’s director of marketing and product management for boom lifts. “All Hi-Capacity HC3 model boom lifts have been engineered to provide increased capabilities and boost productivity on the jobsite.”

The 400 Series Hi-Capacity HC3 boom lifts include the 40-foot (12.2 m) platform 400S HC3 model and the 46-ft (14.0 m) platform 460SJ HC3 model. Meanwhile, the 600 Series Hi-Capacity HC3 models consist of the 600AJ HC3 and 600S HC3, which each deliver a 60-ft (18.3 m) platform height, and the 660SJ, which boasts a 66-ft (20.1 m) platform height. Finally, the 800 Series Hi-Capacity HC3 booms include the 80-ft (24.4 m) platform height 800AJ HC3 and 800S HC3, as well as the 86-ft (26.2 m) 860SJ HC3.

All models offer 750- and 1,000-lb (340.2 and 453.6 kg) restricted capacity zones. The 400 Series, 600 Series and 800AJ models also offer a 660-lb (299.3 kg) unrestricted capacity zone, while the 800S and 860SJ have a 500-lb (226.8 kg) unrestricted capacity zone.

Additional Unit Features

An innovative load sensing system limits each machine’s workability when the platform is overloaded, which automatically keeps operations within the allowable work envelope. The zero-calibration system on all HC3 models eliminates the need to use external weights to calibrate the lift. According to the company, this saves time and effort while increasing productivity.

New light-emitting diode (LED) displays improve visibility of the platform and ground consoles during operation. The LED displays sense ambient light conditions and adjust brightness accordingly, helping maximize visibility and operator comfort. Additionally, an innovative chassis tilt alarm alerts the operator when the machine is on a slope that exceeds five degrees.

While the new Hi-Capacity HC3 boom lifts are heavier than their standard model counterparts, they retain the same footprint for ease of transport and use in comparable work environments, according to JLG officials.
