Safway’s QuikDeck® Gets Independent Global Certification from DNV GL

DNV GL, a global certification organization for maritime assets and other industries, has certified QuikDeck®, Safway Services’ proprietary suspended access system.

A modular system, QuikDeck can be easily assembled, section by section in the air, without any specialized tools to deliver an extremely safe and solid suspended platform. Using a system of nodes, joists, decking panels and suspension chains, workers can rapidly build a large, flat surface outward from a starter segment.

“This hard-won certification means QuikDeck’s strength and soundness are independently certified by an organization with world-class expertise and more than a century of experience,” said Jerry Dolly, general manager of Safway’s Infrastructure Services Group. “We thank and congratulate all those who worked hard to ensure QuikDeck’s safety and capabilities were transparently understood.”

DNV GL  (DNVGL.com) certifies vessels and equipment on the basis of safety and sustainability, providing classification, technical expertise, and independent risk assessment. It serves the maritime, oil and gas, energy, and other industries.
QuikDeck is increasingly the go-to equipment for contractors who want a rigid, relatively open work space. Providing factory-floor-like working conditions, QuikDeck is gaining popularity among industrial contractors worldwide as the best way to provide safe, highly adaptable access for maintenance and turnaround projects, not only on offshore oil rigs and similar platforms, but also on bridges, large industrial structures, and a wide range of other needs. QuikDeck has been used across the Americas, and in Japan, New Zealand, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In its certification, DNV GL noted QuikDeck’s 4:1 safety margin, its load capacity as high as 125 PSF in optimum configurations, and its ability to be cantilevered as far as 16 feet. DNV GL also certified QuikDeck as able to withstand 100 mph wind speeds, high impacts, and extremely high or low ambient temperatures.

With roots dating to Norway’s mutual marine insurance clubs of the 1860s, DNV GL today is an accredited registrar positioned as a global player, operating in more than 100 countries, and certifying 13,175 vessels and mobile offshore units.
