Coatings Manufacturer Manufactures Hand Sanitizer

Sun Coatings has responded to the coronavirus pandemic by adding hand sanitizer to their lineup of construction adhesives, clear and white latex coatings, and silicone coatings. Using FDA approved guidance procedures, Sun Coatings chemists and plant personnel repurposed areas of their 90,000 sq. ft. Tampa manufacturing facility to begin production and distribution of hand sanitizer. In the first week of production, over 350 gallons of hand sanitizer were donated to local police, firefighters and military, as well as to schools, churches, hospitals and company employees.

“Having the facilities, staff and access to raw materials, we saw the manufacturing of hand sanitizer as the most appropriate way to benefit our community,” said Michael Hyer, Sun Coatings Chief Executive Officer. “Through this initiative, we’ve been able to donate to the Tampa Police Department, Tampa Fire Rescue, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, MacDill Air Force Base, Moffitt Cancer Center and more. Tampa Bay is our home and we’re grateful for another opportunity to contribute.”

Sun Coatings will continue to increase production to accommodate hand sanitizer needs in the
community. Sun Paints & Coatings locations will begin stocking hand sanitizer for sale to the general
public beginning Tuesday, April 7.
